Coaching with astrology

“Our psyche is set up in accord with the structure of the universe, and what happens in the macrocosm likewise happens in the infinitesimal and most subjective reaches of the psyche”

Carl Gustav Jung

What is astrology?

“Astrology is a language. If you understand this language, the sky speaks to you”. Dane Rudhyar

Western astrology is a language of symbols and archetypes which helps to contextualise one’s experience by looking at the movements and dynamic relationships of the planets and celestial objects of our solar system and by interpreting them. Western astrology is geocentric and uses the Tropical Zodiac, the path of the sun across the Celestial Sphere.

Astrology is a language of meaning revealed by archetypes and synchronicity.

One of the fundamental pillars of end of humanist astrology is that the planets and celestial objects each have archetypal associations.

Archetypes are the deepest patterns of psychic functioning which makes us who we are and define how we see ourselves and the world. They form a key underpinning of Carl Gustav Jung’s psychology. He described them as patterns of emotional and mental behaviours and emphasised that they represent urges towards those behaviours. In astrology too, signatures - planets and planet’s relationships - represent drives or desires to express each planetary archetype.

Astrologers study the planets as they are placed at the onset of an event in order to determine signatures and cycles of experience. These events can be the moment of birth, the launch of a particular project, the beginning of a relationship, a world event et cetera.

Personal astrology: an empowering tool

“Be yourself, everyone else is already taken” Oscar Wilde

Personal Astrology, which is the study of a specific person’s birth chart describing where the planets were placed at the moment of birth and their relationship to each other at that time, is a very valuable tool to help understanding characteristic traits. It provides a base to explore how one can integrate, develop certain specific aptitudes and talents as well as understand one’s challenge and limitations and thus find ways to work with them. Astrology supports alignment  to one’s core and can help you strategise.

Your birth chart is unique to you, determined by the time, date and place of your birth. It is your individual map and you use your freewill to decide how you will travel in your territory and engage with the world. Will you stay confined to your home or will you explore the wider world laid out on your personal map?

The coaching and astrology partnership

Think of this partnership as a journey in which you are the explorer and I am your cartographer and navigator. The journey starts with examination of a map, after which we embark on the exploration of the territory, or territories, you wish to discover, the ore you wish to excavate and then to offer to yourself and to the world.

The reading

I will have prepared your chart in advance of our session and I will bring to you a physical map which shows the planets and celestial objects as positioned at the time and place of your birth. The chart takes the form of a circle showing the Zodiac. The initial session is usually a consultation during which we “discover” your chart. I highlight the strengths and challenges suggested by your charts and we discuss how you currently relate to it, or perhaps do not. This initial session offers you the opportunity to refine any goals you wish to set for yourself and clarify any challenges you are currently experiencing.

The exploration

The following sessions are based on what seems to you the most relevant issues, challenges or aims, based on the reading and what you wish to manifest or dig deeper into. They are very much thinking partnerships as in transformational coaching.
